Excessive Underarm Sweating

Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition characterised by excessive sweating that occurs beyond what is necessary to regulate body temperature. It results from overactivity of the sweat glands, leading to perspiration that can be difficult to control.

Unlike normal perspiration during exercise or hot weather, hyperhidrosis may occur even when the body is at rest or in cool environments. The underarms are among the most commonly affected areas, although excessive sweating may also involve the palms, soles of the feet, or face.

What Causes Excessive Underarm Sweating?

Excessive Underarm Sweating

Sweat production is controlled by the sympathetic nervous system, which sends signals to the sweat glands when the body needs to cool itself. In individuals with primary hyperhidrosis, these nerve signals become overactive, causing the sweat glands to produce more sweat than necessary, even without heat or physical activity.

In some individuals, excessive sweating may be associated with an underlying medical condition or certain medications. Potential causes include:

Hormonal changes

Thyroid disorders

Diabetes

Menopause

Certain medications

Infections or neurological conditions

Treatment for Facial Sagging
