Neck Line

What are Neck Lines?
Neck lines are horizontal creases or wrinkles that develop across the front of the neck. They may first appear as fine lines during movement before gradually becoming visible even when the neck is at rest.
As collagen and elastin naturally decline with age, the skin becomes thinner and less elastic, allowing these lines to become more noticeable. Repeated neck movement, prolonged downward head posture, and environmental factors such as sun exposure can further contribute to their development.
What Causes Neck Lines?

Natural Collagen Loss
As we age, collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid gradually decline. This weakens the skin’s structural support, making it less resilient and more prone to wrinkling.
Repeated Neck Movement
Looking down, turning the head, and daily neck movement repeatedly fold the skin in the same areas. Over time, these temporary creases may become permanent lines.
Sun Exposure
The neck is frequently exposed to ultraviolet (UV) radiation but is often overlooked during daily sun protection. Chronic UV exposure accelerates collagen breakdown, leading to premature ageing and deeper wrinkles.
Skin Dehydration
Dry, dehydrated skin may accentuate fine lines and reduce the skin’s ability to maintain a smooth appearance.
Genetics and Skin Ageing
Individual differences in collagen production, skin thickness, and genetic factors influence how early neck lines develop and how noticeable they become over time.
